Understanding the GMAT exam format and pattern

To start the prep, the first thing you need to do is to understand the basic structure of the GMAT; the sections, the duration, the number of questions, the scoring mechanism.

Attacking GMAT Quant first

Start working on your basic Quant concepts. For an initial overview, I would suggest that you go through the explanations of different topics that are given in the Official Guide. After this you can switch to a more extensive guide such as Kaplan or a Manhattan; however, this is not necessary, you could scout various GMAT forums for notes, which are generally condensed versions of the rules given in these guides.

Use the Official Guide to set the foundation

Solve questions in the Official Guides under time constraints. Check answers and review mistakes.

Moving on to the Verbal section

Start working on the Verbal section. start preparation by thoroughly going through the Manhattan Guides. At this point I would like to say that though the Manhattan & Kaplan Guides are good and provide you with a lot of relevant information (especially in the case of CR & RC); they should only be done if you have the time and are willing to put in the effort required to go through them and understand them.

This is when you start learning from the Experts on GMAT exams. ask questions and review mistakes, this should take you weeks. The next thing is you get ready for a GMATPrep mock test; to measure how far you have gone in the learning process.

Time for another round of testing

Practicing questions and reviewing mistakes we really help you to score high in GMATPrep mock this time around your Quant score should improve, time management on your part is also important

Dealing with personal issues

Deal with some issues; namely Passport, internals, and mostly a habit of procrastinating things.

Make sure you are still attending training.

Prepare harder, solve the Official Guides once again. making sure you are on satisfactory performance on the Verbal section answering questions with over 90% accuracy, on the Quant section be close to a 90% accuracy at this point.

Analyzing mistakes to improve accuracy.

Go through mistakes and selectively practiced some topics that you feel you are weak at
